A. ISDN stands for Integrated Services Digital Network.
The Phone Line coming to your house or office from DOT is an analog line. This line is 0.96 kbps standard line . ISDN is a digital dial –up Line from DOT. DOT now offers ISDN connections in all major parts of your City. ISDN consists of two lines , which are of 64 Kbps each and are digital . You can use them as 2 telephone lines, one telephone and one Fax line, or one telephone and one for Internet access etc.

Q. How do we get ISDN Line from DOT and what is the procedure for this ?

A. You would require the following

• A Network terminal (N/T)
• An ISDN Terminal Adapter (T/A) or an ISDN Router

The Network Terminals are provided by DOT.
The T/A or the Router has to be bought by you.
If you install a T/A, only one PC can access the ISDN Connection.
If A Router is used then the ISDN Connection can be shared on a LAN.

Approximate Cost of ISDN T/A is Rs 13,000/- to Rs 15,000/-
And of the Router is about Rs 35,000/- to Rs 40,000/-
